A sustainable District founded on the service of collaboration and partnership, leading clubs and members to success, and a confident future with focus, courage and humility.
You will get a dedicated leader who is there to serve you, help you grow as an individual, help your club grow, and help the District grow by growing the strength of its existing clubs and increase the number of clubs.
Members Matter More: Nancy believes that Members make the difference.

Pathways is a contemporary method of delivering the Toastmasters learning program. Speech projects that used to take weeks to receive are now quick to access and they contain easy to understand descriptions, videos, and more.
Every Toastmaster is here with a purpose.
As leaders, we prepare, adapt to new situations and find the best of what there is to offer.
As communicators, we share what we know with others just starting out.
Members matter most!
Our district has helpful resources such as a Pathways chair, video tutorials and more. Through the club’s VP of Education, members can quickly access the unlimited educational resources in Pathways. ready to become the next great communicator and leader in Toastmasters, their professional and personal lives, and their community.
Toastmasters mentoring is one of the most valuable assets we possess in our educational program by tapping into the existing knowledge, skills, and experience of senior or high performing members and transferring those skills to newer or less experienced members.
We are all winners in these relationships:
Mentors develop skill sharing with purpose and the mentee benefits from existing knowledge.
Share, learn, and grow.
Members matter most! Influence the future; be or find a mentor today!
Everyone has their own ideas about the meaning of what a leader is.
To Nancy, Members matter most! She defines a leader as the person you can count on to support and guide you, available when needed, has your best interest in mind, operates with integrity, has a clear view of the present, and a vision of the future.
A leader will share, empower, acknowledge others success, seek diversity, and know that we are greater together than alone.
Ethics matter because members matter.
Ethical behavior increases performance, commitment, and trust.
Ethical behavior requires accountability from all levels and needs to be audited and enforced continuously through the behaviour of our leaders because members matter.
Every organization has an ethical code that guides its decision making and activities to have effective productivity and maintain its reputation.
The Toastmasters values of Integrity, Respect, Service and Excellence all speak to ethics.
How can ethical behavior be applied in the District?
-Be a Role Model and Be Visible. Members look at top leaders to understand what behavior is acceptable.
-Communicate Expectations.
-Reward Ethical Acts and call out Unethical Ones.
Club Growth is:
Ensuring that existing clubs are well resourced and supported because members matter. This means the fundamentals of a well-informed club executive, area director and division are in place and provided with membership retention tools and strategies, training on the use of these tools along with any coaching and mentoring required.
The development of new clubs is important while also supporting existing clubs because members matter more. New clubs built on a foundation of committed new Toastmaster members, supported by dedicated, empowered, and well-trained mentors and coaches. Existing clubs are supported by dedicated members, are empowered with solid training, and supported by District leaders.
These two factors, together with a measurable implementation strategy that is regularly evaluated, sets the stage for sustained growth and success in District 86, because members matter most.
Advanced and Specialty clubs offer members an opportunity to focus on a particular aspect of communicating or leadership.
Members matter: Within our District we have clubs that pay attention to a second language, sales presentations, evaluations and more.
Looking for something more specific? Why not start your own club looking at parliamentary procedure, humour, or video presentations?
These are just a few of the opportunities that exist within Toastmasters.
Members matter: Every opportunity to grow, set new goals, and empower people is right here.
Members matter most: The District team from the Area Director to the District Director are there to connect you with the tools, resources, and support that you need to become your best and help others to the same.
